Safer gambling

Gambling products are priced so the operator keeps an edge over time. A licence means the firm is regulated. It does not mean you should expect to win. You must be 18 or over in Great Britain.

Before you deposit

  • Decide the amount you can lose without touching rent, bills or savings, and treat that amount as already spent.
  • Set a deposit limit in the operator’s own tools before the first payment.
  • Set a session reminder. Leave when it fires, including when you are ahead.
  • Do not gamble to recover a loss. Chasing is how short sessions become expensive ones.
  • Do not borrow to gamble, and do not hide the activity from people you share money with.

If you want a hard stop

GamStop is a free self-exclusion scheme. One registration is designed to block you from GB-licensed operators. Self-excluding with a single brand is narrower. Use GamStop if the problem is gambling in general, not one website.

Warning signs

Spending more than you planned, chasing, hiding bank activity, missing work, or feeling unable to stop are reasons to pause today rather than after the next session. Help is available whether or not you have decided to quit for good.
